ADIRONDACK EXPEDITION

For 4-week campers seeking a perfect capstone to the summer, Wellspring New York offers a 2-week expedition style program in the Adirondack Mountains: the Adirondack Expedition Program.

The week before AEP begins, you will prepare for your adventure with experienced outdoor educators while on campus at Wellspring New York. Then, together with trip leaders, you will paddle out for a two week multi-sport adventure expedition including:

• Canoeing
• Hiking
• Backpacking
• Mountain biking
• Rock climbing
• Camping

The expedition is divided into two week-long journeys. The first, on the magnificent Saranac Lakes, includes canoeing, hiking, rocking climbing and camping at serene, secluded lake-side campgrounds. The second, in the Adirondack mountain backcountry, features hiking to waterfalls, backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing and camping. In between the two journeys you will return to campus for two nights to exchange gear, debrief the week’s adventure, and take part in on-campus activities.

Your culinary and nutrition knowledge from the first four weeks of camp will be applied in the great outdoors. You also put your new fitness level to the test and strengthen friendships established at camp, all while experiencing all the Adirondack Park has to offer and having the adventure of a lifetime.

Wellspring New York’s Adirondack Expedition is open to any camper signed up for the first 4-week camp session. This is the perfect opportunity for those looking to extend their stay at Wellspring New York beyond 4 weeks, but can’t commit to the full 8-week program.

Eight-week campers may sign up for the expedition during weeks 5 and 6, and then will return to their regular group when the expedition is over at the end of week 6.

Whether you already have a love of adventure and the outdoors or you want to cap off your summer at Wellspring with the experience of a lifetime, the Adirondack Expedition may be for you. With AEP, you will travel places you’ve never imagined and achieve more than you’ve believed possible.

Additional Costs

Four-week Campers: $2,400 (in addition to 4-week tuition)

Eight-week Campers: $400 (in addition to the 8-week tuition)

Outdoor gear (includes the following outdoor gear that you get to keep: backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, long underwear, rain gear): $250

Program Dates

The Expedition begins after the first 4-week session on the morning of Sunday July 20 and returns to camp for debrief on Friday, August 1.  Campers departing after the Expedition will do so on Saturday, August 2.

How to Apply

Enroll for the first 4-week session at Wellspring New York.  The enrollment package includes a form to complete in order to reserve a place on the Adirondack Expedition.  There is no additional deposit to enroll in AEP.
