Wellspring understands that weight control can be a struggle. The science of weight loss is complicated and overweight individuals are up against many discouraging personal, social, environmental and biological factors. That’s where Wellspring comes in!
Unlike other weight loss camps, diet camps or fat camps that focus exclusively on short-term weight loss at camp, Wellspring New York focuses on what happens when campers return home by providing tools for long-term success. Wellspring’s program is based on decades of scientific research, which states that the only way to become a successful long term weight controller is to change behavior and revamp lifestyle. Knowledge, awareness, and a new set of trained behaviors will result in long-term success.

Behavioral Change—The Wellspring Clinical Program>> Wellspring campers are trained on a specific set of behaviors that have been proven to sustain lasting weight loss. Self-monitoring, journaling, goal-setting and contracting become second nature to campers and are integrated with Wellspring’s nutrition and culinary training. The work is conducted by each camper’s Behavioral Coach (BC), a Masters or Doctoral level psychologist or social worker. The BC encourages the camper along the journey from novice to successful long-term weight control while working closely with them to overcome any barriers to mastering the behaviors.

Year-Round Continuing Care Program >> During the last week of camp, Behavioral Coaches (BC) introduce campers to Continuing Care. The easy-to-use tools allow campers to stay in communication with their BC from camp, as well as other campers. The year-round Continuing Care Program also provides a supportive environment for participants to continue using the new skills they have learned at camp. Continuing Care continues until June 1, 2011.
Bringing Families Together for Continued Success >> At the end of each camp session, Wellspring New York hosts a Family Workshop. Since becoming a long-term weight controller is a complete lifestyle change, we encourage families to be as supportive as possible and create the most conducive home environment for campers to continue losing weight.
